What do you think of my mum's and sister's attitude?
I want to be a fashion designer and I know and realise that it's a tough industry to get into. I came across this website which designs young volunteers to organise any event of their choice e.g. fashion show, opportunity to be a reporter etc.
My sister read the e-mail from the person at this volunteering site (I asked her what she thought, dnt worry, she wasn't snooping) she told me that it was a good opportunity but I will be in charge of the whole event. I've never done this sort of thing before and says I should find volunteering work that offers supervision. well, this volunteering work, you have to organise it yourself, but the organisers are there behind you every step of the way, so I am supervised. I said to her this person who e-mailed me will help and guide me all the way and help me with designing posters, advertising etc. but my sister says do you not understand that I'll be in charge, you've never done this before, it's going to be too much for you, you'll probably end up not doing the show. my mum tells me the exact same thing,
So I decided to book an appointment with the careers adviser, she says it's not a good idea because, they won't guarantee they'll find you information that you need. well, they got me this volunteering opportunity, maybe they'll find me better ones with better supervision. she says that advisers note down what you want help for (which I kept on asking them different things on different career opportunities). well the woman e-mailed me saying that I will get supervision and my mum tells me that it's up to me, she says that even though you get supervision, all the downfall goes to you. she told me she's even not brave of doing a fashion show like that, maybe that's her choice not mine, if I'm courageous, she should stop complaining about whether or not I can handle it. she says that I shouldn't listen to this woman because she just wants to get as many volunteers as possible so that you can raise money for her charity. she's saying it as it's a bad thing. well it is her job to get as many volunteers as possible.
she tells me she wants me to do well
even when I go out, when i wear something nice, her and my sister tells me that my clothes are tacky. we went to a shopping mall last week, and I was wearing a nice blue jacket with gold belt and silver bag. I went to the cafe and they saw me outside and they were talking about how I dress and looked disapprovingly. when I approach them, they say that my outfit doesn't suit because I'm wearing a gold belt and a silver bag. I siad I don't care, they replied back saying that if someone told me what I was wearing was tacky, I would change it. but what does tacky mean to everyone? just because it looks tacky for them, it doesn't mean that it looks tacky on me.
