Radios were very famous in the late 40's and into the early 60's
A lot of people could not afforf tv's when they first came out and the radio was the only thing they had to listen to. I was one of those people. I can remember my Mother listening to the soap operas on it . My Dad listening to the news and
westerns Lone Ranger was my favorite. He would listen to boxing also and there were even kid programs on it that we could listen to one had a chacter called Daddy Ring Tail Can't remember a lot about it but also I believe The Howdy Doody Time. Then last came to be teenagers and there was Elvis,The Beatles,
Chuck Berry,Little Richard and many more that we could not hear unless we had the RADIO because they were not on TV. They were probly just as famous in the 20's and 30's also. I also remember some of them were battery operated and you choose what you wanted to listen to the most so you could save the battery. They were not like the batteries today
