That is a common question, first you need to know about what are reptile chatacters & amphibian characters. All reptiles have rough or smooth scally skin along with osteoderms(bony plates) in crocodiles they are modified to scutes like the leaf bud.Respiration takes place through the nostrils,Most of the reptiles have cat like eyes ensuring perfect night vesion,Usually the length of the tail is bigger than body those are some external characters. In amphibians have smooth & moist skin they respire through their skin but people confuse a salamender to a lizard they have difference salamanders have overlapped bridge scales but not to a lizard.GECKOS ARE REPTILES BUT SOME SPECIES LEAD A SEMI AQATIC LIFE STYLE ONE CAN'T COSIDER AS AMPHIBIAN IT IS A RPTILE
