Which type of chocolate melts fastest? dark, white or milk choclate and why?

Well if you mean melts from like sitting in the sun, dark chocolate, because the darker something is, the more pigments it has to absorb more color from the spectrum, thus absorbing more light, heating it up more, causing it to melt faster. Like how a black car gets hotter during the day than a white one, or when you wear a black shirt on a sunny day. As far as trying to melt it in like a pot or something, I'd have to say they all melt at the same rate. However, depending on how the chocolate is made, some chocolates will melt faster than others due to the ingredients. Like I would imagine harder chocolates would melt slower. Something you may want to look into is bakers chocolate, try to compare it to regular chocolate.

dark choclate melts the fastest

white chocolate melts faster, because it doesn't have coloring, it just has the natural light cocoa, and cocoa has fat, the fat absorbs the heat faster, therefore, causes white chocolate to melt faster.

i believe that milk chocolate melts fastest then its milk then white chocolate because if you wear a black shirt on a summer day you will get hopt and start to sweat and for a white shirt you would be cool and have no problems.
at first I thought it was white chocolate cause my friend told me it was white chocolate but then a did a lot of research and it was dark chocolate

so u can boil it, u don't HAVE to leave it in the sun and the results will be the same?
Answered Nov 26, 2012
I tested it in an oven at 200 degrees and the milk chocolate definatley won. Ive been researching why and this is what I came up with.

Milk chocolate melts faster because it has less cocoa solids and is more vegetable fat. Dark chocolate doesnt melt as fast because it has a high cocoa content. The higher the cocoa content the slower it will melt.
