The average human being needs at least 8 hours of sleep. If you over exert yourself, or miss sleeping one night, you will most likely sleep longer the next night. It's not bad to sleep for 10 to 11 hours, it would be bad if you were sleeping less than 8 though. If you sleep 10 to 11 hours every night and always feel really tired, it means your body is over-resting, so you should set an alarm clock for like 8 am (assuming you go to sleep at midnight) so that you only get 8 hours of sleep. See how you feel after that.

Once again Oni_Kami that is not true. Ever person is different the experts which you are not, recommend 7 to 8 hours. If you are over sleeping it could mean lots of things, like depression or even some type of virus. To much sleep or not enough sleep is not good. Get checked out by a physician if the problem continues.

It's funny, you're saying I'm wrong and that everyone needs 7 to 8 hours of sleep, however, just to double check, I went to 13 websites about sleep, and every single one of them said that the hours of sleep a person needs can vary between individuals. Aside from the fact that people sleep different hours in different age groups, some people just need more sleep, and some people just need less sleep. I'm not bothering to cite any sites because you can just google anything relating to sleep and start clicking links. Even the Wikipedia article on sleep supports my answer. The fact is that everyone is different. There are literally billions of people on this planet, and thus people have different genetic make-ups, and different personalities, and different lifestyles. Heck, with such a large number of people, there are genetic abnormalities every day even. Not everyone is the same, we're not
all made from a mold, we're not all exactly the same. You say 7 to 8 hours of sleep, but I get 8 and a half hours of sleep a night, oh no, I guess I should go see a doctor, huh?
Like the old saying too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, Sleep is no different. Heath research shows that people in the best health are getting 6-8 hours of sleep every night. Getting 10 hours of sleep can actually be more harmful than getting 5 hours of sleep.
