Is there a certain amount of time that the landlord must give you if your rent is increasing?

My lease expires on December 26, 2009. The landlord sent me a certified letter dated December 21, 2009 that my rent will increase by $200. The rent is due on January 1, 2010. Is there a certain amount of time that must be give that my rent will increase?
