If cats go missing and get injured, would it take longer for them to come home?

Well duh. Think about it. If you go out, and you get a broken leg, it'll take longer for you to get home too. Well a cat is smaller and more fragile than you.

okay thanks. we are upset, because a neighbor started their engine and she was sleeping on it! Half her tail came off. We saw her stuck in a tree ten days later, she jumped into the woods below and hasn't been seen since. Now, eleven more days have passed and we don't know where she is.
Yes most likely, unless if the injury is causing pain to your cat, then the cats probably going to take it slow for awhile.

My cat hurt her leg when she ran away and she was pregnant but she came back in our yard 2 weeks later and we finally caught her. I don't think your cat will stay away because they know you will take care of them it just might take her a bit longer. Good luck!

Depends on how many legs it loses.
