Rental unit being shut down by fire department.

I just received a notice from an attorney because the fire department declared that the landlord terminate tenancy and the rental was being taken off the market. Since the landlord knowingly rented an illegal in-law unit with major health and safety code violations, does the landlord have to pay for relocation and repay all the rent monies paid by the tenant?

Take the landlord to small claims court for expenses to relocate.
