In regards to my comment on the other answer on this page, Windows Media Player will not help you with a camcorder. You want Windows Movie Maker. It's not a good program really, but it's free, and that's what matters. The name of the process which you wish to perform is known as capturing. You are capturing the audio and video information off of the recorded medium and onto the computer.
